Why Severe Weather?
Well, why not? :-) I've always been fascinated by severe weather. It includes some of the most powerful phenomena known to man. It can be scary, dangerous, and destructive, but it's also awe-inspiring and beautiful. I don't like the death and destruction it can cause, of course, but I do have a great appreciation for the power and passion it evokes.
My personal favorite type of severe weather is tornadoes. Growing up, I was terrified of them. (I had good reason to, my parents' house had been near the path of 3 violent tornadoes -- 2 during the Super Outbreak of 1973 and 1 in 1989.) But over the past several years, that fear has been replaced by an intense interest. I've only seen 1 tornado in person, but I hope to chase in Tornado Alley with other weather enthusiasts soon.
